By June Dunleavy, General Manager of TABMA Training
Ross commenced his career in the Timber industry with Brims Hardware in 2005. Whilst learning the basics of the Timber industry, Ross completed his Certificate III in Retail Operations which gave him the underpinning knowledge to forge a career in this industry.
Buoyed by successfully completing his Certificate III, Ross then went on to complete a Certificate IV in Retail Management in 2014 while working at Hudsons Building Supplies.
In 2018, Ross joined JH Williams as a project coordinator working with the Sales team to develop “whole of house” concepts/quotations to further deepen the product sales opportunities associated with such a strategy.
Ross has always had an eye on longer term career opportunities and that is why he embarked on a Diploma of Leadership and Management course just over 2 years ago.
With many late nights and sheer hard efforts, while juggling work, family and study commitments, Ross was finally deemed competent in his last unit – Manage Budgets and Financial Plans.
Ross highly recommends any potential student who wishes to develop a career pathway in the Forest and Timber industry to undertake these studies.
He also acknowledges the excellent trainers/assessors at TABMA Training that worked with Ross throughout his Diploma studies and the high calibre of experience and knowledge of his trainers. He even had TABMA’s finance manager, Cate Peat, train Ross in the finance unit!
His favourite subjects were finance of course, but also Manage Operational Plans, Lead Effective Workplace Relationships and Develop Emotional Intelligence.
Ross has career aspirations of being a branch manager down the track and is already considering further study to help him continue on his successful career pathway.
Congratulations Ross on an outstanding effort!
