TABMA Apprentices and Trainees provide a dedicated Group Training service to the industry, making having an apprentice or trainee in your business easy, hassle free and affordable without costly impact on your business administration.
Boosting Apprenticeship Commencements (BAC) Subsidy
The Federal Government has extended the BAC subsidy. This provides an attractive incentive to take on a new apprentice or trainee with 50% of wages, up to $7,000 per quarter, subsidised for 12 months.

As your industry association, the TABMA Team understand your industry and the training needs to ensure you future proof your business.

Finding you an Apprentice or Trainee
A benefit of using TABMA is access to our highly experienced recruitment team and field officers.

Katie Cook-Pearce has been with TABMA since August 2019, however she has worked for over half a decade in the VET sector and has placed many apprentices and trainees in various sectors such as hospitality, business, retail, construction and manufacturing. Her goal is to learn about people’s hobbies and turn them into careers, making sure people naturally love what they do.
Since joining TABMA she has been able to learn lots about timber and the building industry as a whole and has identified many opportunities for the next generation of professionals in their chosen field.
Katie works tirelessly using multiple channels to attract great applicants for our member’s apprenticeships and traineeships. They screen the applicants and then the shortlisted ones undertake a skills assessment before being referred to you for consideration. This way, you are assured that you are only interviewing the best candidates available in the market.
Managing your Apprentice or Trainee
TABMA Field Officers are here to help you and the apprentice/trainee placed with you. They visit regularly, making sure that the placement is going well.

George has been working as an apprentice and trainee mentor for over a decade, and recently joined the TABMA family as our NSW field officer. George is a qualified chef and for many years ran kitchens and foodservice operations for massive functions. Eventually he handed in the apron and went on to support aspiring chefs. George has always been handy around the house and shares our love for timber. He is excited to learn all about our industry and support our apprentices and trainees.

Darren started his career in civil and mining construction where he worked for 15 years. He later switched paths and began working his way up the recruitment ladder, first as a consultant and then as a branch manager. Since then Darren has worked in several roles in safety and compliance in the construction space.
He is excited for the variety and many challenges that TABMA has to offer him. Darren is especially looking forward to bringing on new business through our membership base and keeping our trainees and apprentices on track through their training and onsite practices.

Ian is the newest member of our team. He is an experienced Business Development Manager and Franchise Owner with a demonstrated history of working in the automotive, industrial supply, agriculture and hardware industries.
After years of helping business grow he is keen to help young trainees and apprentices develop their skills. His background in hardware industry gives him a unique insight into the careers available not only in retail hardware but also timber industry.
