As we roll towards the end of 2021, we come into the peak recruitment season for trainees and apprentices.
This year is proving rather challenging in this respect. All industries are experiencing a lack of quality candidates for vacancies, and TABMA is not immune from this. To counter the shortage of applicants, your TABMA Recruitment Team has been working hard to promote our 50+ vacancies on the major social media platforms. They have contact communication with school careers advisors and utilise many different and unique channels to attract quality candidates.
The strategies our team have implemented have resulted in over 50 trainees/apprentices being placed with TABMA Host Employers so far this financial year and increasing awareness of the career opportunities that the timber and building materials industry provides. If you haven’t had a chance to see some of the video content used in our promotions, we encourage you to look at our YouTube channel https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCx4RpHiRK_WIE7PCNOg460A.
With the school year now finished for year 12 students, we encourage our members and host employers to consider their trainee and apprentice needs for the new year. Now is the prime time to attract the best candidates. And, don’t forget, as a bonus, if you take on an apprentice or trainee before 30 March 2022 you will gain the benefit of the federal government’s Boosting Apprenticeship Commencements subsidy: this will provide a 50% subsidy (up to $7000 per quarter) for the first 12 months of their placement. TABMA provides the full subsidy back to our host employers.
The TABMA Apprentices & Trainees Team would like to wish all TABMA members and host employers a very Merry Christmas and all the best for 2022.
